The Humanity Tower

Seif Wanly (1906-1979)

There is a saying in Islam I always loved as a kid, and I continue to live by. It goes something like: "Each human is a building block, and together we rise as a tower. The strength of our tower lies in the stability of each individual brick."

It's hard to hold onto this belief when I see the world turning a blind eye to what's happening in Rafah. Has our tower crumbled? Or are Palestinians not considered part of humanity, not seen as essential building blocks? Is the world trying to build its tower without them?

It's a sad day for Rafah and for humanity.
